Best Tips for Keeping a New Car Clean

Getting a new car is a rush – the scent, the shine – not even the seats are broken in just yet. You’ll probably want to keep it that way as long as possible. We’re outlining the best practices of cleaning (and how frequently you should repeat these tasks) to keep your car looking its best.

Wash Regularly

Wash your car every week. This helps preserve the quality and longevity of your vehicle’s clear coat. Washing weekly isn’t just for aesthetic purposes either – car washes are able to remove and safely dispose of pollutants that accumulate during regular use of your car. These pollutants get caught in our drain system when it rains. If you use your car more minimally or only park in garages, you can wash it less frequently, but we still recommend washing it at least every other week. If you’re interested in a more affordable option, consider signing up for one of our unlimited car wash packages for peace of mind and quick, convenient service.

Spot Treat Quickly

Don’t hesitate to clean an interior spill or acidic substances like bird droppings or sap on the exterior of your car. It is best to take care of those messes sooner rather than later. Bird droppings and sap will start to deteriorate the finish of your car within hours. Use a soft cloth, plenty of water, and mild soap to wash away the dirt before it hardens if you aren’t able to immediately get to a car wash. For spills and messes inside, check out our blog about getting stains out of your car’s interior.

Use a Ceramic Protectant

Waxing your car is a hassle but something highly recommended by many professionals. If you aren’t able to pay for an expensive wax coating once every three months, as is recommended, consider upgrading to a car wash package that includes a ceramic glaze. Our Premier package includes Ceramic Glaze coating. When washing your car regularly, that protective barrier builds up to protect your car from pollutants and contaminants that accumulate on your vehicle simply from standard use.

Detail Twice a Year

It’s a good rule to have your car detailed at least twice a year, though many aim for four times a year or every three months. This helps with the general health and upkeep of your vehicle and you’ll continue to stand out on the road. Consider opting into getting your engine cleaned during the detail to wash away all the dust, pollen, and other dirt that may have accumulated. Between details, regularly vacuum your vehicle and dispose of any accumulated trash and debris. You can add a vacuum token to any of your washes and one free vacuum token is included in our Premier package.
